Upon graduation from high school in Riga, Perl became the youngest member ever selected to study under the tutelage of Russian drawing professor, Vitaly Borisovich Kortunov. Courageously she pursued her art in a totalitarian society that repressed all freedom of expression.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eIn 1975, Perl immigrated to the United States.  She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, graduating in 1980.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eRelocating to Los Angeles, she pursued a successful career in fashion design, working in a number of prestigious West Coast firms for over eighteen years.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"\"\u003eHaving never lost her passion for art, however, Perl began studying ceramics.
