About the artist:

Born in Riga, Latvia, Perl grew up under the oppressive domination of the Soviet regime. Upon graduation from high school in Riga, Perl became the youngest member ever selected to study under the tutelage of Russian drawing professor, Vitaly Borisovich Kortunov. Courageously she pursued her art in a totalitarian society that repressed all freedom of expression.

In 1975, Perl immigrated to the United States.  She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, graduating in 1980.

Relocating to Los Angeles, she pursued a successful career in fashion design, working in a number of prestigious West Coast firms for over eighteen years.

Having never lost her passion for art, however, Perl began studying ceramics. When the opportunity arose, she left the fashion industry and is now devoting herself full-time to the pursuit of her art.
